Housing Boom leads to Christmas Work for Brick Plants

posted 29.11.2013
The boom in house building means that the brick kilns will be firing over Christmas for the first time since 2007.

Since the construction crash brick makers have being shutting down over the festive break but demand for bricks means plants will remain open and operational over the Christmas period.

This provides more evidence of a resurgent house building industry, the help-to-buy scheme being largely attributed to this increase in house building activity. The growth in potential buyers has naturally stimulated the drive to build new homes. It was reported this week that new home registrations had jumped 24% in the period of August ?October when compared with the previous year.

This year brick production is expected to reach 1.73 billion units. That enough bricks to go 9 times round the earth!
