Construction Sites Open Doors to Public this Weekend

posted 26.09.2013
This weekend construction sites across the country will be throwing open their doors for members of the members of the public to come and have a look at what happens behind the hoardings. This is the second time that an Open Doors Weekend has been held and has been organised by the UK Green Building Council (UKGBC), the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS), the Scottish Contractors Group (SCG), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB).

The scheme has seen a great response with over 3000 people registered to visit one or more sites this weekend.  One of the primary aims of the scheme is to introduce young people to the industry and to demonstrate that the construction industry is innovative, embracing new technologies and creating some iconic buildings and places that shape our landscape. This changing perception aims to encourage new young entrants into the industry and develop careers within this sector.

Sites are opening their doors up and down the country from as far north as Elgin in Scotland to as far south as Hayle in Cornwall. A number of major contractors have joined the scheme to present some of their most iconic and interesting projects and staff will be on hand to answer questions.

If you want to learn more or book a visit then full details and availability can be found at

Recipro hopes that everyone visiting a site this weekend has a great experience. I am sure this opportunity will introduce some future construction professionals to the industry.
