Online campaign reveals biggest “Idiot on a Ladder”

posted 13.12.2012

An online campaign run by the Ladder Association has unveiled the ?winner? of its biggest ?idiot on a ladder? following a three month hunt.

The campaign has been using its Facebook channel as a vehicle to gather images where ladders have been used in the most ridiculous and dangerous ways.  The campaign urged the public to send in their shots back in September. This has been followed by a public vote to determine the biggest ?idiot on a ladder?.

The aim of the campaign is to promote safe ladder use, raising awareness, and highlighting negligent users. Thousands of people are injured each year through falls from height and the images submitted demonstrated some clear examples of misused ladders which could have caused potentially life threatening outcomes.

The Facebook vote ended with a clear winner, as pictured this worker was reaching towards the top of a chimney whilst the ladder balances precariously on an adjacent building leaving a gaping fall directly beneath.

Recipro applauds the efforts of the association to highlight a serious and important health and safety issue, whilst the images may seem so ridiculous to be humorous in reality these situations are no laughing matter.
